Lace Course The 2000 Maltese Lace Course is the fourth edition of a course in lace making using the Maltese bobbins and pillow, with a pattern of the Maltese Cross and a variation of the flower motifs. Friday Public Holiday. Good Friday Good Friday pageants are held at about 7.00hrs in 14 different towns and villages. During these pageants. a numbr of life-size statues depicting scenes from the passion and death of Jesus Christ, are carried shoulder high in procession along the main streets of the particular locality. Men and women personifying Biblical characters from the Old and New Testament, dressed in period costumes, take part in the processions. |

| Easter
Sunday Public Holiday. Easter Sunday Early morning processions with the statue of "The Risen Christ" held high, take place in various towns and villages. Particularly interesting are those held at the three harbour towns of Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua, where the statue bearers actually run with the statue. It is still customary for children to have their "figolla" (an almond-based Easter cake), blessed by the 'Risen Christ' during the processions. |
