The Berlitz Method was developed by Maximillian Berlitz over a century ago. This method is still the most natural way to learn a new language or brush up and improve your existing knowledge of the language. Our courses combine this time-tested technique with the latest in CD ROM and multimedia technology. Thanks to this system your progress will be rapid and you'll be speaking and thinking in your new language right from the very first class. OUR INSTRUCTORS All our instructors are specially trained in the Berlitz Method and are native-fluent in the languages they teach. This means that you will learn the current idioms and expressions that are used by native speakers. During your programme, you'll also have the benefit of working with multiple teachers to experience different speech patterns and accents to ensure that you will understand the language no matter who is speaking it. Berlitz instructors undergo extensive training before they begin teaching. Their performance is continuously monitored and we require that they attend refresher-training courses so their teaching skills are maintained and updated as new techniques are developed.
The fastest and most effective way of learning a new language. Five days a week from morning through evening you'll speak, hear and think only in your new language, even during lunch which is provided by Berlitz. Since practice in a one-to-one situation your progress will be rapid and your instructor will focus on the terminology that you require to communicate effectively in your business or educational situation. INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION The major advantage of this type of course is that you are the only student, so you'll learn at your own pace. The instruction can be customised to accommodate your business and/or social needs. With this type of course you have the choice of full-day or half-day classes. SEMI-PRIVATE INSTRUCTION This course is limited to two or three people so you'll have the opportunity to practice with other students and make new friends at the same time. By sharing an instructor you'll enjoy the economy of studying in a small group while enjoying many of the advantages of individual instruction. GROUP INSTRUCTION If you want to share your learning experience with other people then enrol in one of our group courses. We offer scheduled programmes for four or more individuals depending on which type of group instruction you choose with the largest group never exceeding 10 students. Berlitz will ensure you are placed in a group that's compatible with your language level.
Instead of using the traditional classification of Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced to classify our students, we use 12 categories. This system enables us to monitor your progress more accurately. COURSE BOOKS AND MATERIALS Depending on your proficiency level and type of instruction you require Berlitz will recommend course material that you will use during the lessons and during your private home study. This material, which normally includes a student reader and audio cassettes, is specifically designed for the Berlitz student and is used in connection with live instruction in a Berlitz classroom. As the student progresses through the programme, periodic assignments are given by the instructor for work with either the Student Reader or audio cassettes.
Besides having our own course books and material we at Berlitz make extensive use of CD ROM and Multimedia technology. These computer programs are specifically designed for the Berlitz student and will serve to reduce review time in class. This means that you will learn more new material and, consequently, your progress will be much faster. INFORMATION SERVICE Students will benefit from the assistance and professional advice of our tourist services department. You will always find a friendly face to help with all your requirements and the service is available to all enrolled students. Our administration department is always on hand should you have any special requirements. We take your peace of mind very seriously ensuring that you relax and concentrate on learning English!
We believe in maintaining an all round high standard of services. To ensure that standards are maintained we provide students with a questionnaire, which we would appreciate you complete at the end of your course. Your opinion is important to us.
The Maltese Islands have a 2000-year common history with Britain. In fact Malta was a British colony until 1964 when the island gained its independence from Britain. As a result the island adopted many British habits and traditions, more important though the fact that the Island has two official languages: Maltese and English. English is spoken by everyone in Malta. As a result you will learn English in an English speaking environment with the added advantage of having the best weather the Mediterranean has to often. After classes you can mix with the locals and the thousands of British tourists who visit the Islands each year, thus you continue to learn English even when lessons are over - all this in a warm and safe environment. BERLITZ PREFERRED STUDENT (BPS) All our students benefit from a unique programme that will enable Berlitz students to take advantage of special discounts at the many shops, beach clubs, diving clubs, restaurants, bars and nightclubs in the vicinity. We have carefully secured agreements with numerous establishments providing Berlitz students with substantial savings during their stay in Malta.
Our host families are carefully selected and, in our opinion, are the very best available for our students. Host families speak English all the time enabling the students to refine their language skills in a friendly and comfortable environment. Our host families are also well known for their high standards of cleanliness and tasty cuisine. We have also made every effort to ensure that host family accommodation is never more than a short bus ride away from the language centre. The performance of our host families is monitored on a regular basis ensuring only the best service is offered to our students.
All students are met at the airport by our airport representatives who are there to assist with airport procedures, luggage and general information. Transfers to accommodation is by taxi, minibus or coach service. Our representative will also be available on departure days.
Every feature of our language centre is designed keeping the students interest, comfort and continuous benefit in mind. The centre is fully air-conditioned to cope with our warm summer months and we offer a fax, e-mail and word processing facility to all students (e-mail and word processing facilities at no charge). This will prove to be especially invaluable to our business students. Our cafeteria is open throughout the day during lessons and a comfortable lounge area is available to all providing a quiet comfortable public area for students to interact with each other and their teacher during their free time. Our language centre is situated in the heart of St. Julian's in an area known as "Paceville." The centre is approximately 200 metres from one of the most popular beach clubs on the island at the Dragonara point and the Casino on the Dragonara peninsula. The main bus terminus is located less than 100 metres from the centre, making the language centre easily accessible by local transport from all parts of the island. Nearby are numerous restaurants and cafes to tempt the appetite and all the facilities students may require during their stay such as stationers, banks and the main telephone exchange amongst others.
No other language centre is so accessible and strategically placed, ensuring that, your choice for Berlitz Malta is the right one.
